The Kremlin said: ‘Given That a large choice of citizens practising Orthodoxy is living within the spaces of hostilities, we call at the Ukrainian aspect to announce a cease-hearth and give them an opportunity to wait services and products on Christmas Eve and the day of Christ’s delivery.’

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of ‘using Christmas as a canopy’ in his daily video address on X.

Addressing the Russian people, Putin said Moscow ‘despatched all of your folks to be slaughtered’.

‘Everybody in the global knows how the Kremlin uses lulls in the warfare to continue the war with new force,’ he brought.

Russia has many times rejected a couple of cease-fire pleas from Ukraine intended to allow for humanitarian evacuations and recoup assist.
