Boy, 10, dies after being trapped down 100ft hollow for four days

A 10-year-vintage Vietnamese boy who fell right into a hole concrete pillar at a building site on New Year’s Eve has died.

Rescuers spent nearly 100 hours seeking to free Ly Hao Nam from the 35-metre lengthy improve pillar that have been pushed into the ground.

Doan Tan Buu, deputy chairman of the southern province of Dong Thap, stated on Wednesday there has been now not enough oxygen down there for him to have survived, adding that he suffered a couple of accidents.

He delivered: ‘We had prioritised the rescue of the boy. Alternatively, the stipulations imply it is unattainable the boy has survived.’

The government are now running to recover Nam’s body for the funeral.

He used to be heard crying for lend a hand in a while after he fell into the pillar, which has a diameter of 25 cm, on Saturday in the Mekong delta province while looking with buddies for scrap iron.

Masses of infantrymen and engineering experts were despatched to the site as a part of the rescue efforts.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had prompt them to mobilise all apparatus and forces wanted, the federal government said.
